Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards hopes the mystery of a woman’s skeleton found in Rochester over the weekend could be solved soon.

“I’m hoping by the end of the week, with a little luck, we will have some resolution,” Edwards says.

The remains have likely been in the shed for years, though it’s so far unclear exactly how long the body’s been there. Edwards says she was between 20 and 50 years old and there are so far no signs of a homicide.

Illinois State Police are poring through missing persons reports and will soon examine dental records.
