The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand at the Sangamon County Public Health Department Saturday to take back unused or unwanted prescription drugs.
The event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at public health’s headquarters on South Grand Avenue East is part of a nationwide effort to prevent public health hazards and prescription drug abuse. The Drug Enforcement Administration says it’s collected 3.4 million pounds of drugs in the past three years.
The DEA says events such as these prevent drugs from being flushed down the toilet or abused.
