One political analyst says GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner has an opportunity to capitalize in his campaign against Governor Pat Quinn after two separate investigations have been launched into the current administration’s practices.
The governor is on the defensive,” says UIS Political Science Professor Emeritus Kent Redfield. “He is not talking about positive things he is doing or problems with Rauner’s policy positions. He is defending his honesty and I’m sure that is something he didn’t anticipate.”
Redfield says a probe by federal officials into IDOT hiring practices and how money was spent in the Neighborhood Restoration Initiative, a Chicago anti-violence program, could prove problematic during this campaign season.
