Springfield Police continue responding to shootings, which number more than 20 since March 8.
This time officers responded to a report that one shot was fired near 21st and Capitol shortly after 11:00 Thursday night. Officers initially didn’t find anything, but the victim walked into St. John’s Hospital shortly after the shooting with an arm injury.
“The victim was uncooperative,” says Police Chief Kenny Winslow. “[He] basically stated that… was hesitant to give us any information.”
Winslow says the bullet grazed the victim’s arm and the injury isn’t serious. He says a black man walked up to the victim as he was sitting in a parked car and fired one shot.
