The Illinois attorney general says the former president of a Peoria-area construction firm involved with Illinois Capitol renovations has pleaded guilty to wire fraud in Sangamon County Court.

Stephen Roeschley, former president of Core Construction Services of Illinois in Morton, used a minority-owned business to obtain a contract as part of the $50 million Illinois Capitol restoration project. But an investigation found the business, BJB Enterprises didn’t do any work, or provide any materials.

Roeschley was sentenced to 30 months’ probation and ordered to pay $800,000 restitution.
