Springfield School Board member Judy Johnson was the lone ‘no’ vote to install Mike Zimmers as the new board president Monday but hopes her voice will be heard with the new administration.
Johnson had some sharp words for her fellow board members.
“People are negotiating things. I’ve always said this board always does things behind closed doors. I hope we are out front and are able to speak to one another” says Johnson.
Zimmers was the only nominee. He took the gavel from out-going president Chuck Flamini who earlier said he didn’t want another term, however, Flamini was unanimously elected to be board vice president at last night’s meeting.
It was the first meeting for new District 186 Superintendent Jennifer Gill.
