Oral arguments are set for next month on a lawsuit attempting to block November ballot initiatives calling for term limits and a revamped political redistricting process.
The lawsuit filed last week argues state election officials shouldn’t spend public money on the proposals, but attorneys for the other side say it will cost more to adjudicate the case. A Cook County judge set a June 18 court date. Both sides and the judge say they want a quick resolution before November.
Two groups have collected signatures to get term limits and redistricting measures on the ballot. Election officials are reviewing signatures.
