Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport says 50 percent more passengers came into and out of the airport last month compared to April 2013.
Most of the increase is due to the new Allegiant route to Orlando/Sanford, but airport executive director Mark Hanna said the traditional airlines, like American, are doing well too.
“We’ve seen double digit percentage increases over the course of the last four months, a 28 percent increase in activity for the American Airlines flight to Dallas,” said Hanna.
The long-standing United Airlines non-stop service to Chicago also saw a slight six percent uptick.
Year to date, passenger traffic has increased 39 percent over last year.
