While Springfield aldermen agree some sort of Inspector General function is needed, not all agree on whether it should be a full-time city position or an outside contractor to look into complaints from city workers.

Ward 3 Alderman Doris Turner says she looks forward to a spirited debate next week.

“We all agree we need this type of entity or person who can act on behalf of the city, But now that we are here I think it is important that we don’t misconstrue how we got here,” says Turner

Some want the position to be established in the Human Resources Department. But others want the office under the purview of the city council.
