One group of area activists want to ensure they get a piece of the rail consolidation pie.
Reverend T. Ray McJunkins, president of the Faith Coalition for the Common Good says a pact he signed with some local lawmakers will help ensure minoirities get their fair share of the jobs for the 10th Street rail consolidation project.
“We believe the rail project will impact the east side of Springfield the most. We ask the questions who will get the jobs, where will the plan of economic development be, where will families be placed who are displaced” says McJunkins.
State Senator Andy Manar and State Representative Sue Scherer were on hand Monday at the old Lincoln Rail Depot to sign the non-binding agreement.
