Video gambling will continue in Sherman.
The village board approved a one year extension. Mayor Trevor Clatfelter says the board last year found a middle ground with opponents and proponents — limit the number of licenses, and revisit the video gambling ordinance every year.
“It’s been going on for almost a year now, we have not found there to be any problems with it,” says Clatfelter, though he noted that could change within the next year. That, in part, is what prompted the village board to pass expiring ordinances — problems could quickly be quashed by simply not allowing the practice anymore.
The new ordinance sunsets in June 2015. There are only eight gaming positions in the village, though not all available video gambling licenses are in use.
