43 managers at St. John’s Hospital found themselves out of a job Thursday.
CEO Charles Lecore said in a statement that implementation of the Affordable Care Act plus lower payments from Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance are forcing, what he calls, the management restructuring.
Lecore notes no nurses or other clinicians are being effected. He says the managers will receive a severance package and outplacement services. The hospital is scheduled to open new surgical suites later this week. Hospital officials declined further comment.
