An early morning three-alarm fire gutted a trucking company in Williamsville.
The first call came around 2:30 Friday morning. The fire started in an outbuilding where trucks are kept, but quickly spread and became a “defensive operation.” Sherman Fire Chief Todd Masterhand said a number of departments responded.
“I figured there were nine or ten different departments and about 50 firefighters from northern Sangamon County, Menard County and Logan County,” Masterhand said.
It took about three hours to get under control. No injuries were reported but a number of the company’s trucks were damaged.
The Illinois State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause.
