A contest at a local company resulted in a big donation for the Central Illinois FoodBank.

Horace Mann CEO Marita Zuraitis says each year, the company sets the bar a bit higher and this year a record was broken.

“It was a little bit of fun and we made it a contest. We were able to raise more than 74,000 pounds of food, so are excited about what we were able to do,” Zuraitis says as she presented a check for more than $9,000 to the group.

FoodBank Executive Director Pam Molitoris says one in four children in the Springfield area lack enough food on a daily basis and adds the FoodBank is always looking for more donations.
