St. Clair County police say a man has drowned in a pond following what appears to be a wheelchair or scooter accident.
A 51-year-old Belleville man drowned Sunday at Centennial Park. Police say park visitors discovered the man when they saw part of his body sticking out of the pond.
Police say the shore is uneven and it appears the man went into the water accidentally. They say he was strapped into the apparatus with a safety belt.
