Police have arrested five people in connection with a shooting turned high speed chase turned crash late Tuesday night.

Springfield Deputy Police Chief Dan Mounce says the incident stemmed from a fistfight earlier that night. Officers in the Southtown area heard shots fired around 10:30 and saw two cars speeding down South Grand Avenue East toward Dirksen. Police couldn’t stop either car.

An SUV, occupied by Ethesianon Williams, 18, and Bryant Slayton, 28, rolled over and hit several cars on the S&K Buick GMC lot. They were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries and face multiple weapons charges.

The occupants of the other vehicle, Warren Price, 24, Octavious Evans, 24, and Deandre Hollingsworth, 26, were also arrested on unrelated charges.
