After months of speculation, Alderman Cory Jobe says he will not be a candidate for Springfield Mayor but will instead will run for re-election in Ward 6.

Tuesday, Jobe says he can better serve his constituents by remaining on the city council.

“It is a personal decision.  I respect the residents I represent in Ward 6.  I feel they need a strong, positive voice on the city council,” says Jobe.  “We have brought some passion back to the inner-city.  We have brought a bold agenda.”

Jobe says he is not yet endorsing any candidate for mayor.  He also says he is donating money raised by his exploratory committee to the Ward 6 Fund used to finance neighborhood improvement projects.
