How does Springfield Mayor Mike Houston size up his campaign now that the Republican field has been set? Well, apparently not much has changed.
Houston didn’t say whether his strategy will change now that Ward 6 Alderman Cory Jobe decided to run for re-election to his aldermanic seat instead of running for mayor.
“I got to know him through the MacArthur Boulevard Business Association,” Houston said. “I really like Cory. I have a lot of respect for him. I think that he has done a good job as alderman.”
Houston quipped that he and Jobe will continue to work well together for the next four years after they’re both re-elected.
Houston also had nice things to say about city treasurer Jim Langfelder and Sangamon County Auditor Paul Palazzolo, though he also couldn’t say in those instances whether their announcements will affect his campaign strategy.
