Neurology doctors at Springfield Clinic said Monday they’re donating $50,000 for an interactive brain exhibit at Kidzeum.

A three-story, 40-foot-tall child will house the Healthy Body Gallery. Visitors will explore the brain exhibit on the third floor through a “spine climb.”

Dr. David Gelber, a Springfield Clinic neurology specialist, said the donors are sponsoring the brain exhibit so kids can learn about the central nervous system and how to keep it healthy.

Kidzeum organizers have raised about $5.2 million of a $6.5 million goal since 2008. The three-story, 25,000-square-foot museum is scheduled to open late next summer or early fall in historic buildings in downtown Springfield. Construction on the exhibits began in July.
