If you had plane tickets over the weekend, you no doubt know about the alleged sabotage of computer equipment at an air traffic control facility in Aurora. U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) says he’s been in contact with transportation and law enforcement authorities.

It’s alleged an employee upset over a transfer brought gasoline and weapons to the facility and set a fire, then tried to kill himself. Short of doing a better job of predicting who’s going to snap, what can you do?

“The FAA administrator said that one possibility was what he called the rule of two,” Durbin said Sunday. “In a critical circumstance, you would not have a single employee alone in that kind of critical part of the facility.”

Durbin says the FAA was unable to get into the facility until early Saturday – 24 hours after the fire started – because of the FBI’s investigation.
