Springfield School District 186 Superintendent Jennifer Gill says her schools are safe but staff is always looking at ways to improve security in the district’s buildings.
“There isn’t any silver bullet; it is about how all the systems work together, ” Gill told board members Monday.
Gill says the district is working with the Springfield Police Department. “We have reached out to the police department and we are working to get parents involved as well.”
Gill says staff are making random searches of students and using hand-held wands to detect contraband. No other security measures are needed according to the school board.
