A former Sangamon County Board Member seems to be the latest candidate in the race for Ward 2 alderman.  Tyrone Pace says he has not yet formally announced he is running for Alderman Gail Simpson’s seat but is hitting the streets.

“I am not formally announced but I can tell you this, I am out trying to get the signatures to be a candidate,” says Pace.  “Quite frankly, I see myself getting older and the legacy that I leave.  That is why I’m running.”

Pace, a retired state worker, says he is considering running because he is concerned about his legacy and he wants to ensure Ward 2 gets the attention it deserves for economic development.

Billy Bishop III is also running and says it is time to get off the sidelines and be a catalyst for change

“It is time for me to step forward and get some things done with new leadership” Bishop says.

Simpson announced last month her candidacy for mayor.
