Candidates for Springfield city offices began filing petitions Monday.
Two mayoral candidates, Jim Langfelder and Paul Palazzolo, are touting accomplishments in gathering signatures over the past few weeks. Langfelder says he submitted more than 3,000, while Palazzolo gathered more than 1,000. 274 unique, verifiable signatures are required.
The race for mayor is now a five-way race with Samuel Johnson entering last week. Should all candidates remain in the mayoral race a February primary would be triggered.
