The Springfield Sliders will have a new owner soon, as long as it’s approved by the league and park district.

Todd Miller will be the active general manager and owner of the team. Miller says that he has already gotten to work on Robin Roberts stadium.

“Before this season even starts, the entire facility will be repainted and get a nice facelift,” says Miller.  “People will be able to come out there and definitely see we’re already putting work and money into the facility, to try and get everybody in the community excited about it.  I know some people won’t come out for the baseball, but hopefully they come out for the family entertainment.”

Miller says he fell in love with the area and that’s what made him decide that the Sliders were the right team for him to purchase.

“It really is a great area,” says Miller.  “It seemed just like a great place to raise a family.  I felt like I was at home when I got here.”

While Miller couldn’t disclose how much he actually bought the team for, he did say that teams like the Sliders go for anywhere from $250,000-$1,000,000.

The team plays in the western division of the Prospect League. The Sliders will play their first home game on May 27th and Miller says they’ve already got a big fireworks display planned for the home opener.
