From July 14th-17th the Web.com tour will play the Lincoln Land Charity Championship at the Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield. Tournament Director of the Lincoln Land Charity Championship, Alex McCarty, says there was a mutual interest from both parties to make this happen.
“It’s a combination of a lot of things,” McCarty said. “The Web.com Tour has a certain number of tournaments they need to fill each year and the Panther Creek Country Club was actively pursuing bringing a Web.com/PGA Tour event to Springfield. The timing was great to bring them both together. (The Panther Creek Country Club) is ready to go and a lot of folks have said that it is championship ready.”
Springfield native Jake Marriott has been invited to play in the tournament. Marriott is currently a senior at Augusta University in Georgia. University of Illinois head golf coach, Mike Small, has also been invited to participate in the event.
