Why can’t I find a naming rights deal like that?
Perhaps Bank of Springfield might have something to say about it, but rocker Rick Springfield may be getting his way, ahead of his big concert at the Prairie Capital Convention Center next Friday.
“How humbling…a whole building named after me, Rick Springfield. The Rick Springfield Center. That’s just great,” Springfield says in a video posted to YouTube, and which you can see above.
It’s obviously a ploy to drum up ticket sales for Springfield and rock group “Loverboy” next Friday night.
“We love creating a unique experience for visiting artists and making sure their trip to Springfield is a memorable one,” Brian Oaks, PCCC General Manager, says in a news release.
Bank of Springfield has purchased more long-term naming rights for the convention center, though details are still being finalized.
No word on how “Loverboy” — also performing next Friday night — feels about getting the naming rights shaft.
