Janet Gooch will be the next chancellor of the University of Illinois Springfield. That’s pending formal approval by the Board of Trustees at its May 19 meeting.

Gooch is currently an executive vice president at Truman State University.

Gooch will take office on July 1 and succeed interim Chancellor Karen Whitney, who has served in that role since July 2020. Whitney followed Chancellor Susan Koch, who retired in 2020.

The 56 year old Gooch’s educational background is in Communication Disorders. She is married to dentist, Dr. Richard Gooch, and they have three grown children.
