At City Council Tuesday night, Springfield Fire Chief, Brandon Blough (pictured), made a presentation on the pending relocation of Fire House 8 from West Monroe, where it’s too close to a Starbucks and a busy intersection.
Response times would still be 4 min. to district locations following the move.
Ward Six Alderwoman Kristin DiCenso was frustrated, as were others, that this move is happening before the relocation of Fire House 6, which most on Council agree is the priority.
Estimated cost of the new Fire House is $3.2 (million). It remains to be seen what will become of the current Fire House 8 property at 2051 W. Monroe after it moves.
