Springfield, Illinois –The Springfield Police Department has stepped up enforcement efforts on weekend nights in response to multiple pop-up parties resulting in fights, reckless driving, and shots fired incidents. This past weekend proactive patrols resulted in multiple gun arrests.
06/19/2022 at approximately 12:34 a.m., Chris M. Reed (male, 26 years old of Decatur), was arrested in the 400 block of East Monroe Street for unlawful use of a weapon.
06/19/2022 at approximately 12:47 a.m., Andrell D. O’Neal (male, 29 years old of Decatur), was arrested in the area of 5th and Washington Streets for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
06/19/2022 at approximately 2:21 a.m., the Street Crimes Unit confiscated a firearm in the 1200 block of East Cook Street. No arrest was made, charges are pending.
06/19/2022 at approximately 9:34 p.m., Robert M. Lathan (male, 29 years old of Springfield), was arrested at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and East Edwards Street for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
06/19/2022 at approximately 11:11 p.m., Michael T. Weiner (male, 34 years old of Springfield), was arrested in the 2100 block of N. 17th Street for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, revoked FOID.
In addition to the firearm arrests additional enforcement resulted in the following:
