Today (Friday) is typically one of the busiest travel days of the year and it appears the weather will not be cooperating.  This afternoon, much of the central parts of the state will begin to see rain.

The heaviest rain will develop early Saturday and could be mixed with freezing precipitation, particularly northwest of Springfield.  Saturday night could see snow developing throughout central Illinois with 2-to-4 inches of snow possible into Sunday.

By Monday, the storm system will have cleared the area but temperatures will turn sharply colder with highs only reaching the high teens and lower 20s.
