The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, has identified the victim of the homicide that died at HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s emergency room yesterday.

Jamarius Williams, 19, of Springfield was pronounced deceased at 7:02pm shortly after arriving at the hospital.

An autopsy done this morning indicated Mr. Williams died from a single gunshot wound to the back.

The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.

The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the 2 persons shot in a parking lot at 2828 East Clear Lake Avenue in Springfield yesterday evening. 21 year old James Simpson Jr., of Springfield was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy found Simpson died from multiple gunshot wounds. The second victim is identified as 20 year old Courtlan Williams of Springfield. He remains in stable condition in hospital. The shootings are under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
