Springfield had nothing but love for Sonya Jones when she was a contestant and ultimately a finalist on NBC’s hit show “The Biggest Loser.” Now Jones is returning the favor.

“I love Springfield,” she said. “Springfield was my home when I was on the show. There’s so much support here.”

So, how does one go from reality show contestant to running a small business?

“I knew when I got off of the show that I wanted to pay forward everything I learned on the show,” Jones said. “Not everybody can go to “The Biggest Loser,” not everybody can be a contestant on the show, and not everyone who could would want to. So, what I wanted to do was pay it forward because so many people have been shackled to food and their weight for so long, and I want to give them hope.”

That hope, according to Jones, involves giving attention to the phycological/emotional causes of overeating.

Tuesday marked the grand opening of Jones’ weight loss clinic in Springfield, Losin’ It with Soyna Jones. She previously opened a location in Litchfield.

Jones competed on season sixteen of “The Biggest Loser.” She says she keeps in touch with contestants from that season and that she’s the only one without the aid of bariatric surgery to have maintained a healthy weight.
