Three generations of the Brandt family were on hand Wednesday to present a one million dollar commitment in pledged funds to the Springfield Memorial Foundation.
Front and center was the family’s matriarch, ninety-eight-year-old Evelyn Brandt Thomas, who with her late brother, Glen Brandt, founded the company that bears their name.
“I’ve watched them both over the last fifty years and seen how generous they are,” said Ed Curtis, President and CEO of Memorial Health. “But more important than their generosity is the kindness they show to other people, and to get a gift from someone who cares so much about the community and cares about giving means so much more.”
Curtis (pictured far left), went on to say the money will go toward continuing the education of current colleagues. “We love that,” he said. “We love to invest in our colleagues, and this gift is right where we need it.
The Brandt family has supported local health care for many years, but Wednesday’s donation was a particularly exciting moment for Evelyn (pictured center), who turns ninety-nine next month and who continues to play an active role in the family business. Also pictured are Sierra Brandt, owner, BRANDT, Inc. and Rick C. Brandt, President and CEO of the company.
