Firearms and narcotics arrest

Today, around 6am, the Springfield Police Departments Pro-Active Crime Unit along with the Emergency Response Team served a search warrant in the 1400 block of South 3rd Street.

Officers located several subjects inside, including 25 year old Deonte Stewart of Springfield. During the search of the residence the officers located 19 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, a loaded Springfield Armory XD 9mm pistol, and a loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber pistol with an extended magazine.

Stewart was taken to the Sangamon County Jail where he awaits formal charges from the Sangamon County States Attorney Office.  Stewart was arrested for armed violence, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm – No FOID.

On June 30th at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department
Street Crimes Unit served a narcotics search warrant in the 2400 block of South Lowell Avenue.

As officers entered the residence they located 18 year old Mohamed I. Elsayed who was taken into custody without incident.

During the search of the residence officers located 1120.69 grams of cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy pills, $7,190.00 in U.S. currency, and a stolen 9mm Springfield XD firearm.

Elsayed was arrested for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm, methamphetamine delivery, delivery of cannabis over 500 grams, and possession of a firearm – No FOID.

Elsayed was transported to the Sangamon County Jail where he awaits formal charges from the Sangamon County States Attorney’s Office.
