A Springfield man has been arrested and charged with three counts of first degree murder in the shooting death of a man last night (Sun).
Around 8:50 p.m. Springfield Police responded to the 1100 block of north 8th Street for a report of a shooting.
Officers found the victim who was shot multiple times in the upper torso.
The man was transported to HSHS St. Johns Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
35 year old Decody Stamps was taken into custody within an hour of the incident.
Today, Stamps was charged by the Sangamon County States Attorney. He is in custody with bond set at $2 million.
UPDATE: Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon released the victim’s name. He’s identified as 42-year-old Roosevelt Sims of Springfield. An autopsy conducted today indicates Sims died of multiple gunshot wounds.
