Ward 6 Ald. Kristin DiCenso is not seeking another term on the city council. The election is in April.
DiCenso says she has two demanding jobs: alderwoman, and chief of staff at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. She says it’s time to focus on the job that “pays the bills.”
DiCenso says her son is now a freshman in high school and has had to sacrifice enough “mom time.” She joined the council six years ago as a successor to Cory Jobe, who moved away. She won one full term on her own.
Other alders leaving the council: John Fulgenzi, who has chosen not to seek a new term; and Joe McMenamin, who is term-limited out.
DiCenso says she will not rule out anything but does say she will campaign for the candidates she endorses in 2023 – including treasurer Misty Buscher, who is running for mayor against Jim Langfelder – and whomever else may join the field.
