He’s called Chicago a “hellhole.”

He now says “The Purge” is alive and well in Chicago – referring to a movie thriller in which – for one day a year – it’s okay for anybody to kill anybody else.

And now, State Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia), is a part-time resident of Chicago.

Standing near the site of a recent mugging and commemorating the city’s 500th homicide of 2022, Bailey – who is opposing Gov. JB Pritzker in November – said the governor, Chicago’s mayor, and the Cook County state’s attorney are all guilty of letting criminals go free.

The Republican who wants to be governor is invoking movie thrillers – in describing Illinois’ largest city.

Bailey also talked about renting a place in Chicago, in the skyscraper formerly known as the John Hancock Center (pictured) so he could be among the people, which is what he said he likes best about the city.
