Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 116th local build Wednesday. It was the first in-person dedication since the start of the pandemic.
“We built two houses in 2022 and two in 2021,” said Executive Director Colleen Stone. “We’re doing three this year. We average three to four, so we’ve got a little bit of catching up to do.”
The new owner of the near-westside home? A grateful Rochelle Shelton, who will live there with her grandson Mardell Daniels.
“It means a lot,” Rochelle said. “I’ll be able to have my grand-babies over. I really like it, and I’m very appreciative for all the work they put into it. It’s been a long time coming.”
KW Capital, local contractors, and volunteers were all major players in making Wednesday’s home dedication a reality.
