A federal judge has potentially opened a new market in Chicago to gun dealers.
The judge says that Chicago ordinances banning the sale of firearms within city limits are unconstitutional. The ruling came in a lawsuit brought by the Illinois Association of Firearms Retailers and three Chicago residents – saying Chicago’s ban not only covers federally licensed dealers, but also gifts among family members, in the name of reducing gun violence.
But the existing ordinances stand … pending appeal.
