It may as well have been called “Mike Zimmers Night” Monday at the Springfield Public Schools board meeting – the first since the passing of the longtime teacher, coach, administrator, volunteer, and board member Oct. 5.
“If there ever was an example of ‘I (heart) 186, it was Mike,” said board president Tony Mares. “Rest in peace, my friend, and Go Cubs – from a Sox fan.”
“Mr Z was one of the very few who actually ‘got it,'” said board member Erica Austin.
Zimmers’ family received a framed copy of a resolution which was read at Monday’s meeting.
