This morning a Sangamon County Grand Jury returned a 6 count Indictment against Shane Woods of Auburn arising from a fatal traffic collision on Interstate 55 last Tuesday where Woods was driving the wrong way and collided with and killed a North Carolina woman.
Woods faces charges of First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer.
Woods remains in the Sangamon County Jail and cash bail was previously set in the amount of $2 million.
Following return of the indictment, the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a Petition for Denial of Bail in Sangamon County.
Woods was already facing charges for his involvement in the Jan 6 insurrection in Washington DC.
