Springfield Fire Department rescued eight people from the balcony of a burning apartment house late Sunday.
This happened at 1015 South First Street at 10:46 p.m. The fire chief says nobody was hurt, and the damage was confined to one apartment, the roof and attic, and an outside staircase.
