District 186 has its eye on land at Eleventh Street and Stevenson Drive for a new school. It would consolidate Southern View, Laketown, and Hazel Dell, each of which has fewer than 200 students.
An attorney briefed the school board about the property Monday. The expectation is that environmental remediation on the former Allis-Chalmers site will be complete. The site also includes the former H.D. Smith building, which would be a new administration center.
Superintendent Jennifer Gill is looking forward to bringing all administrative offices under one roof.
