Someone believes there’s room for another central Illinois college offering an agri-business degree. Students at the private Millikin University will be able to take up this major in a year.
“We’re in Decatur, and we’ve got a robust set of industry in the area – ADM, obviously, but also ag-related industries, too,” says R.J. Podeschi, dean of Millikin’s Tabor School of Business. “There are a lot of great job opportuinties and careers available in that field.”
Podeschi stresses this goes beyond the family farm.
“Those careers can vary from someone who is going to manage an elevator out in a small town to someone who can trade commodities in downtown Decatur.”
Podeschi says this is something people have been requesting.
He adds Millikin has the small-college experience which some find preferable to the big schools such as Illinois and Illinois State.
