The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, has identified the pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on northbound, Interstate 55 yesterday evening, near mile marker 96.

48-year old Edwin Bartosh of Springfield, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday and the death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.

The Sangamon County Coroner has released the name of the person killed in a car truck crash on I-55 this morning. 58 year old Leanne Schleyhahn Springfield was pronounced deceased this morning at St. John’s HSHS Emergency Room.

The accident occurred around 7:30 this morning (Wed) on I-55 northbound at the Sangamon Ave. exit. State police report that for unknown reasons, the Chevrolet driven by Schleyhahn swerved from the exit lane to the left lane of the north bound lane of travel into the path of the Freightliner. The freightliner struck the Chevrolet on the driver’s side.

The ISP are investigating the crash.
