The Springfield Fire Department is hosting its final Recruitment Event of the year.

It’s this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30p.m. at the Salvation Army Community Center on Clear Lake Avenue in Springfield.

This will be the last opportunity to get one-on-one experience prior to application deadline

Individuals interested in applying to be a Springfield Firefighter for this upcoming testing process, or those looking at an opportunity to test in the future, are encouraged to attend.

The clinic will be an open house format where individuals can walk around to different stations and learn more about the entire exam process. The clinic will have special areas including:

· Details about preparing for the written portion of the exam;

· An overview of the different aspects of the physical portion of the exam called CPAT;

· The ability to try on firefighting gear;

· Sample oral interview questions that may be asked during the process; and

· Take home an information packet outlining important deadlines and steps to follow.

This clinic is also an opportunity to meet and talk with firefighters with the department along with City of Springfield HR staff to address any questions candidates will have.

The deadline to apply to become an entry-level Springfield Firefighter is Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 11:00 p.m. (CST). Those who apply will then take the written exam on either January 5 or January 7, whichever best fits the applicant’s schedule.
