There is more information available now about what might be Springfield’s largest fire in decades. Christmas Eve morning, crews were called to the former Goodwill facility on Eleventh Street.
Chief Brandon Blough says two people are unaccounted for. An excavator helped begin the search, though Blough says the holiday kept investigators away, and he now hopes a cadaver dog can be brought in.
Blough credits his crews with saving 40,000 square feet of the building.
The only serious injuries reported are a couple of cases of frostbite.
