For the first time since 1969, a Caray will be in the broadcast booth for the St Louis Cardinals.

The Athletic reports that Chip Caray, an Atlanta Braves announcer who previously has announced Chicago Cubs games, will join Bally Sports Midwest to succeed Dan McLaughlin, a longtime announcer who parted ways with the team this winter after McLaughlin’s third DUI conviction.

Caray is from St Louis, where his father, Skip, and grandfather, Harry, both worked. Just prior to Harry Caray’s death, the Cubs had planned to pair grandfather and grandson.

WTAX is part of the Cardinals’ radio network, where John Rooney, Ricky Horton, and Mike Claiborne return as announcers.
