The National Weather Service is predicting a nasty winter storm for much of the region beginning Tuesday morning, with Springfield looking to get the brunt of it.

Dan Smith from the National Weather Service in Lincoln says 6-8 inches of snow is possible along with arctic air and other concerns.

“As the storm system pushes on through, there’s going to be some blowing and drifting of the snow tomorrow night and during the morning hours Wednesday,” said Smith. “And as we’re all used to now this winter, following this storm, another outbreak of cold air for the end of the week.”

Smith says low temperatures later in the week could be anywhere from 5 to 10 below zero.
