State Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) says it’s time to get back to basics.
“We ought to, in my opinion, be working toward a system of financing schools that equips every child that graduates from high school with skills so they can go to college or go into a trade, if that’s what they want to do. We don’t have that today,” said Manar. “That’s a
competition issue. We have forgotten that we should be striving toward a world-class school system in Illinois. We’ve been bogged down by budget concerns over the years.”
Manar said the EFAC’s mission was about redefining how to divide the pie, making more of the school budget need-based.
